We’ve certainly been blessed to have had guests visit Wildflower Cottage from all over the globe now (from Iceland to Bermuda; California to Hong Kong).
They arrive to celebrate a quiet birthday, anniversary or honeymoon, embark on a personal wellness retreat or simply soak in the beautiful natural surroundings and catch up on reading, writing or painting. And of course, many travel here to explore their genealogical connections to this historically significant region.
Here’s what some of our guests have had to say…..
Everything you need, and more, is how Andi has thoughtfully prepared the delightfully decorated and cozy Wildflower Cottage for guests. The cottage is an excellent base for exploring many regions of that end of Nova Scotia.
You can cook a full meal in the well-stocked kitchen, or go to one of the fine local restaurants; you can walk the clearly groomed pathway from the cottage to the dike on the river, or tour one of the many historic sites nearby; you can catch a well-produced concert 10 minutes away in Annapolis Royal or stay at “home” to read one of the multitudes of outstanding books available to match any taste.

Watching the Fundy tide come and go was fascinating to these Albertan tourists.Overall, Wildflower Cottage is a peaceful, lovely spot to refresh your spirit while enjoying Nova Scotia’s culture and beauty.

I can’t say enough good about Wildflower cottage. We found the cottage itself to be very well appointed, clean, comfortable and welcoming in its’ decor. The owners truly do want you to have an enjoyable stay and it shows in every detail. The wonderful long view of the fields, river and valley is an ever changing delight to watch with your morning coffee or evening meal. The entire property is truthfully and beautifully portrayed in the photos and is even more delightful in person. If you’ve never been to this part of the world,Wildflower cottage is a wonderful introduction as well as being nicely situated for exploring the region. This was our first stay here and if it’s to be, certainly not our last.

The photos on the website were right on. Wildflower Cottage was a delight, the location perfect for our Bay of Fundy discovery. And the owners, are equally wonderful.
From our front room, we could see the Annapolis River, a tidal river. How cool to see the difference in the river when the tide was in/tide was out. The Cottage has 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths so it would be perfect for a couple or small family. Kitchen was fully stocked, plenty of comfortable places to sit and relax. We spent evenings outside watching the sky, seeing the light change and enjoying the bird songs we heard. Our family of chipmunks darted around. Our pheasants were a bit more shy, they ran into the shrubs when we were around.
If you want a central location on the Bay of Fundy side of Nova Scotia, you could not find a better place. Wildflower is near the charming town of Annapolis Royal, which was founded around 1605. The town is small, great shops, extremely nice people.
If you are planning to visit, we found Wildflower the perfect introduction to Nova Scotia.
We loved it.

This property exceeded all of my expectations. We came to Nova Scotia for a two week birthday/genealogy trip. The first 5 days were spent in other locations. I had never rented a house before, but decided to take a chance because I wanted a comfortable “home base” for the second half of the trip. I was confident that it would meet all of our needs based on the other reviews I read, but they really did not do this place justice!
The views from the front room of this farm house are just stunning. Looking out over the meadow while drinking our morning coffee was just wonderful. The meadow is loaded with rabbits and even home to at least one lovely pheasant who paid a visit every day.
Since we were on vacation for two weeks, we also wanted a place where we could cook our own food! Eating out every single day gets old quick, AND gets very expensive!! We bought some food at the grocery store in town but we also found a meat market on the way there where we got some lovely grass fed steaks. We figured we would pan fry them, but when we got to the house we discovered that there is a portable gas grill with propane canisters in the pantry! I am sure that was on the list of what is included at the house, but I missed it and it was a really nice surprise! This kitchen really has everything imaginable that you could need to cook. Pans of all sizes, even some spices, foil and saran wrap! It also has plenty of counter space!!
Spending a day in a laundromat was not on my list of vacation “hot spots”, but after a week of exploring Halifax, walking Blomidon beach at low tide, and vineyards, it was time to do some laundry!! Having access to a full sized washer and dryer was key in my decision to rent this location and they were a life saver!
I also have to add that Andi, the owner, is a wonderful, caring hostess. We had some very nice conversations about the property, the area, and my reason for visiting (genealogy and meeting some long lost relatives). She is an absolutely lovely person, and I really look forward to seeing her again on my next visit (hopefully next fall). After staying in this house, I won’t even consider staying elsewhere! I miss my little home already!!

“Andi was accommodating in every way, she even provided additional baby towels a high chair and a pack n’ play for our baby. The cottage is quaint, comfortable, clean and well-appointed with conveniently located instructions, reminders and even night-lights. The surrounding trails, views, history and setting are magnificent. The overall feeling is calm and serene, perfect to just unplug and relax, or use as a base for exploration of the annapolis valley… We are already discussing a return.”

“Loved Wildflower Cottage, An amazing value. Iconic Valley view; simply breathtaking. The passion and effort the owners apply to the cottage & vast property are heartwarming. The views are abundant & diverse: encompassing wildflower meadows, lush verdant lawns, garden beds, bounded by the glorious Annapolis River & tree-clad North Mountain. It is so beautiful as to be surreal. The cottage is absolutely charming, totally functional & supremely comfortable. The kitchen has great design & is perfectly equipped. House & yard are immaculate, yet warm & welcoming. Wildflower Cottage surpassed our high expectations & we hated to leave. The area is fabulous, so much to see & do. We love, love, love the bread @ The German Bakery in Annapolis Royal. Andi, the proprietress is wonderfully helpful, generous & kind ! Our experience of the cottage, property & area attractions was outstanding.”

“My husband and I spent a week in this wonderful home. It is exactly as pictured online, and super clean. If you are looking for a place that is so quiet in the morning, that you can hear the bee on the flower outside the window, then this is the place for you. We enjoyed the views, the property, the house, and meeting Andi and Steve. Thank you for sharing the little piece of heaven with the world.” Maura and Greg, Virginia, USA
“There are no words to describe the beauty and peace we found at the Wildflower Cottage. The description and pictures are exactly what we found when we arrived. Our family enjoyed every moment of our vacation there and Andi and Steven were incredible hosts. They provided us with several recommendations of where to visit and spent some time getting to know us. The cottage had everything we needed to enjoy our stay and more. On the day before we left, we saw beavers, a snowshoe hare, a deer which came to the big picture window and a pheasant. Such an incredible place and vacation! We would definitely Thank you again for opening your home to us! We miss it already!”

“The Wildflower Cottage was a great choice for our vacation. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The cottage is well stocked with incidentals as noted by previous renters. The view from the property is lovely. The nearby walks suggested by Andi were great. The owner includes a helpful guide to the area and literature in the cottage to help you successfully navigate the area. The cottage is decorated with an artist’s touch. I really can’t say enough about it, other than…just perfect! Thank you!”

“The cottage was spacious, attractively furnished with a great eye to color, to livable space, comfortable furnishings, practical supplies and really appealing art on the walls. Initially, we worried it was too close to the road, but in fact the road wasn’t busy and was a great thoroughfare for us for cycling through gorgeous countryside. Outside, gorgeous views of the Annapolis River and surrounding landscape, and the owners thoughtfully provide a mown path down to the river and the historical Acadian-originated dykes that run along it. Best of all to us, Andi and Steve were the kind of hosts who supplied lots of brochures and booklets on the area, as well as personal suggestions of excursions and sites that might be of interest to the tenant, according to preferences. We found them knowledgeable, quick to respond to any questions or problems and not at all intrusive, unless specifically asked for their assistance.”

“Extremely clean, comfortable rental, that is exactly as pictured. Has comfortable beds, beautiful linens and plenty of fluffy towels. The kitchen is FULLY equipped with everything you need, including the incidentals (dish soap, spices, vinegar, etc.). The views are unsurpassed, making you feel like you never want to leave the comfort of your armchair. But do venture out – don’t miss Kejimkujik National Park, Delaps Cove, Bear River, Digby Neck/ Long and Brier Islands, Fort Anne, or the cemetery tour after dark. I have stayed at many VRBO rentals and have always been satisfied, but this home is outstanding!”

“The landscape setting is beautiful, the cottage is super clean and has a wonderful artistic flair. There was laundry soap, dish soap, toilet paper, tinfoil, baggies, washer, dryer all the amenities one needs, did not need to purchase any of the little things. The entire Fundy region has the most awesome natural attractions. It was my husbands birthday, his co-workers called the owner of the property to arrange for a gift. Andi accepted their request and brought a fabulous bottle of local wine and a card to the cottage and surprised my husband for this birthday. Thank you so much for providing exactly what is shown and described of the property online and for going out of your way to provide and exceptional experience for our get away. Most definitely plan to come back!”

“We were very pleased with the cottage, and its location was straight out of paradise. I cannot tell you how many photographs I took – of the field flowers, the nostalgic barn, the distant river and hills, and I even managed to get a phenomenal sunrise and a full moon rising, vineyards in the morning mist, and fog engulfing the trees. Yes, the place was exceptionally magical. It was very difficult to leave. I can imagine it in the winter, and especially in the brightness of spring – it must be magnificent then too! You are indeed a very fortunate lady to be living where you are. Annapolis Royal with its shops, old gracious homes, and even a botanical garden right across the river just compliments the absolute glory of your property. Thank you for everything Andi. You were very thoughtful in every detail, including the very cosy dog throws for Ella, and the feed bowls.”

“This is a wonderful holiday rental. A beautiful property filled with flowers, walking paths to the river, and views that couldn’t be beat. The house was very comfortable and like the other property, exceptionally clean. The kitchen was well equipped and the views from the dining room were incredible. We highly recommend this property. We can’t wait to come back!”

“My wife and I and our 10-yr old daughter stayed at the Wildflower Cottage recently and we all LOVED it! Lovely surroundings and the house was immaculately clean. It’s location is ideal, a short 5 minute ride into Annapolis Royal and a 15-minute ride from the Bay of Fundy. We cooked at the house and there were plenty of utensils and, all in all, we couldn’t have asked for more. If you’re staying there with children, don’t miss the Port Royal historic site and for the grown ups, both the Bear River winery and Annapolis Highland Vineyards had great tasting rooms and decent wine for sale. We also stopped by Nautical Seafood to pick up their amazing scallops a couple of times. Great place to stay, both the cottage and area in general. Thanks, Andi, we’ll be back!”
